"Wootton & Dry Sandford Community Centre, four great bands, free entry, food for purchase but sadly no bar (boo) so bring your own (hooray!). "
Eclectic Cabaret #2 consisted of...
first up, acoustic duo Waterfahl who played what might be called 'Nordicana', with guitar and harmonica and vocals. They do both covers and original material but for us they did mostly their original stuff, which we greatly appreciated.
dance group The Vale Islanders who collectively did a good impersonation of a bunch of seventeenth century folk having a good ol' country dance with authentic-looking costumes and leather cups for their drink. And their musical accompaniment is good, too. A fine crowd to have along, with a definite tendency to dance!
folk group Mandolirium with extremely impressive musical skills, mandolins and tunes
and high-energy originals La Phooka who as part of their act had an extra piper over from the US and so treated us to a duel of bagpipes, which was quite mind-blowing, fantastic entertainment! Take a listen to the video!
